After being awarded the Asian Art Award at Korea in 2010, Ch’ng Huck Theng continued his quest of creating works to remind the public of how fortunate we are to live on this planet.

“What is AN APPLE? Planet Earth Today and Tomorrow” is a series of creations where the artist moves beyond beautiful paintings to remind the public that we should not take world for granted – symbolized by an everyday apple. If we don’t take care of mother nature, one day it will be too late when future generations turn around and ask us “What is an apple?”

Many visitors were impressed with the artist’s bold move which combined both still and moving forms in his creations, centered around an Apple. “It may look simple but it is actually a very well thought and important concept”, said the Malaysia Consul General to New York, Mohd Zamruni Khalid.

The exhibition of Artexpo New York 2011 is the artist’s second solo showing for this series after Seoul, Korea. Singapore and China will be his next destinations; the tour is expected to last three years and Malaysia will be the final stop. (Source: Essenze Magazine)
